“We have written a letter to the army requesting them to return the arrested inspector to us. Even though Police and army work together and we enjoy cordial working relationship, in police we have procedures of disciplining any erring policeman arrested and even arraigning him in court after investigation, as there is no hidden place for criminals. Even when we picked a soldier we inform the Army and hand him over to them after investigation,” Aduba said.
The Commissioner of Police said that before the news of the arrest of the inspector got to them, his Divisional Police Officer had sent a signal that he absconded from duty three days before he was arrested.
