The gunmen, according to
eyewitnesses at the scene of the incident, immediately opened fire on sighting
his car in order to force the vehicle to a stop but were engaged in a gun duel
by the two orderlies attached to Mr. Kawonise. This development reportedly made
the attackers to take to their heals when they realised that they could not
accomplish their mission.
Mr Kawonise was shot in the leg
by the attackers while one of the two policemen also suffered gunshot wounds
and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Mr.Kawonise was on his way back
