Nigeria to name new U17 coach

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will announce a coach for its Under17 national team, the Golden Eaglets, this month, SuperSport.com has learnt.
Acting General Secretary of the football federation, Musa Amadu, disclosed that the decision is still pending until the Chairman of the NFF Technical Committee, Chris Green, returns from Germany.
Amadu explained that the move to name a coach for the Nigerian Under17s is to ensure that plans begin for building a team before the next editions of the African Championship and World Cup.
"Very soon the federation will name a coach to take charge of the Under17 national team. But that decision will be part of the discussion of the technical committee of the federation when its chairman (Green) returns to the country likely next week," Amadu offered.
Nigeria's Golden Eaglets failed to qualify for the Under17 African Championship this year and thereby missed out of the ongoing World Cup in Mexico.
In 2009, Nigeria finished runners-up as hosts behind Switzerland.
Former Nigerian winger, Emmanuel Amuneke, has been linked by local media to the head coach job of the Golden Eaglets.
