Shake-up in Police over Boko Haram

Following increased bombings and attacks by Boko Haram on innocent citizens in some northern, the Inspector General of Police, Mr Hafiz Ringim, Tuesday, ordered the immediate redeployment of Commissioners of Police of Borno, Niger, Katsina, Kano and Bauchi States.
Also redeployed, according to the IGP’s directive, are the Commissioners of Police of Kebbi, Sokoto, Nasarawa, Plateau, Jigawa, Benue, Ondo, Oyo, Imo, Ogun, Ebonyi states and Federal Capital Territory, as well as the Commissioners of Police in charge of Homicide and Federal Operations.
Vanguard’s investigation revealed that CP Baba Adisa Bolanta, formerly the Commissioner of Police, Oyo State, has been deployed in Sokoto; CP Ibrahim Mohammed is redeployed in Katsina State; CP Simeon Midenda, formerly CP in charge FEDOPS, is moved to Borno State; CP Ibrahim Idris is the new Kano State CP; CP Ikechukwu Aduba is CP in charge Bauchi State, CP Michael Zuokummoh, formerly of Niger State is the new CP in charge FCT.
It was further gathered that CP Mohammed Jinjiri Abubakar, formerly of Borno is now CP Jigawa; CP Emmanuel Ayeni, formerly of Ebonyi is now CP Plateau; CP Lateef Abiodun Junaid is CP Kebbi; CP Emmanuel Obiakor, formerly of Nasarawa is now CP Benue; CP Ibrahim Maishanu is now CP Niger; and CP Musa Abdusalam Daura is CP Nasarawa.
Others are CP Haruna john, formerly in charge FCT now in charge of Federal Operations at Force Headquarters; CP Saliu Argungu Hashimu, CP in charge of Oyo; CP Nicholas Nkemdeme is the new CP Ogun; CP Tambari Mohammed is CP in charge in Imo; CP Adeola Adejiri is CP Ebonyi; CP Charles Abutu is CP in charge Ondo.
Those recalled to Force Headquarters are CP Sabo Ringim Ibrahim, formerly of Katsina now CP in charge X-Squad; CP Hassan Adamu is now CP in charge Homicide; CP Ikemefuna Okoye is CP Training at ‘E’ Dept; CP Emmanuel Udeoji is now Deputy FORCESEC; CP Buhari Tanko is CP ‘MSD’;CP Joseph Ibi is now CP in charge General Investigation at FCID; CP Mohammed Indabawa is the new CP in charge Administration at Police College, Kano and CP Sani Magaji is the new CP in charge ‘Admin’ at ‘E’ Dept. at FHQ.
Contacted on the deployment, Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Olusola Amore, confirmed the postings are with immediate effect, noting that it was aimed at repositioning the Police Force for effective performance against criminality and terrorists acts.
