Olorunsogo power generation rises to 150mw

The power generation at the Olorunsogo Power Station in Ogun has increased to 150.5 megawatts (mw) from 50 mw, an official of the station has said.
The official, who preferred anonymity, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Monday in Lagos that five turbines which “malfunctioned earlier in the year” had been repaired and installed.
He said that four out of the five turbines were installed about a week ago while the fifth turbine was installed on Aug. 28.
According to the official, the station has an installed capacity of 256 mw.
``Although seven turbines are working, the percentage of the power generation ought to be higher but some of the turbines are functioning below their 32 mw installed capacity,” he said.
He added that the rebound of the station was due to more funds injected into the station in the last two months.
``The Minister of Power, Prof. Barth Nnaji, charged the station management to get all the turbines working before the end of the year,” the official said.
Olorunsogo Power Station was built by the Federal Government  in collaboration with a Chinese company on 35 per cent and 65 per cent equity respectively in 2003.
The station was commissioned by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2005.
