Wesley University Honours Osemawe

THE OSEMAWE of Ondo kingdom, His Royal Majesty Oba Dr. Victor Adesimbo Kiladejo has been conferred with an award of Doctor of Science Degree (D.Sc) in Management Sciences by the management of Wesley University of Science and Technology, Ondo (WUSTO), as part of the activities in marking its third-year founder's day anniversary.
The Vice-chancellor of the university, Prof. Tola Badejo, confirmed this development recently, while addressing journalists on the programme of activities lined up for the epoch-making occasion at the Senate Chambers of the institution, located at its take off-site along the Ondo./ Ile-Ife highway
He stated that the conferment of the award on the foremost traditional ruler, who is also the chancellor of the ivory tower, was in recognition of the various contributions made by the monarch and the people of Ondo community towards the growth and development of the institution since it commenced academic work in the town.
He listed some of contributions to include the donations of 220 hectares of land for the building of the permanent site of the institution at Liyetu community along the Ondo / Ore highway and acquisition of two buildings from which academic and administrative work took off at the take-off site of the University.
Prof. Badejo also mentioned other contributions made by the indigenes of the community to include the constructions and donation of 1000 capacity multi-purpose lecture theatre to the institution by High Chief Olabanji Akingbule and a chapel which is presently under construction at the institution which was donated freely to the university by the Lisa of Ondo Kingdom, High Chief Bayo Akinnola.
 He further listed other areas through which some indigenes of the community have also partnered with the university in its developmental strides to include the constructions of hostels and cafeteria at its take-off site.
The WUSTO VC also disclosed that as part of the activities lined up for the Special investiture and the conferment of honorary degree award on the Osemawe, a foundation laying ceremony of an ultra modern multi-million naira health centre to be built and donated to the University by the monarch will be held in addition to the inauguration of several completed projects such as parks, mini-zoological garden among others, executed through internally generated funds by the institution.
He stated further that a Founder's Day lecture will also be delivered on that day by Prof. Peter Okebukola, the former Executive -Secretary, National Universities Commission (NUC).
Prof. Badejo who used the occasion to highlight the various achievements recorded by the institution  since May 14, 2008 when it was officially opened for academic activities, also listed the various courses offered in the institution in the Colleges of Natural and Applied Sciences, Colleges of Food Science and Technology as well as the college of Management and Social Sciences.
While lauding the proprietor of the school, the Methodist Church Nigeria (MCN) and its members for their financial contributions to the development of the institution in all areas, Prof Badejo however appealed   to the Ondo state government, Non-Governmental Organisation and public spirited individuals to come to the aid of the institution in its efforts in training the needed manpower for the technological advancement of the nation.
He also called on private individuals who wish to partner with the institution to avail themselves of the vast commercial opportunities available at the institution by coming forward to invest in the place.
While reiterating the commitments of the institution management   to the actualisation of its vision and mission which is geared towards achieving academic excellence and moral regeneration, the university helmsman promised that the institution would not relent in its effort at achieving the goals and objectives for which it was established by its founding fathers.
