EKSG to Make Transparency, Accountability, Probity and Good Governance its Watchword

Ekiti State Government has reiterated determination to make transparency, accountability, probity and good governance its watchwords so that the meager resources accruing to the state is properly utilized for the overall development of the entire state.
Deputy Governor, Funmi Olayinka made this assertion in Ado whilereceiving the report of the Committee of Enquiry into the Award of the 690 Primary Schools Buildings Project in the Sixteen Local Government Areas of the State in year 2009.
Mrs. Olayinka thanked the Chairman and members of the Committee for committing their time, energy and others things that they sacrificed individually for the success of the assignment given to them.
The Deputy Governor who commended the Chairman and Secretary of the Committee who incidentally were both women for living up to their leadership roles in the committee said she was happy that women that have been saddled with leadership challenges by the administration of Dr. Kayode Fayemi have been displaying the dexterity that made her proud of them. She assured the Committee that the government would read, digest and critically consider their findings and recommendations with a view to implementing them for the benefit of good governance and development of Ekiti State.
The Chairperson of the Committee who is also the Permanent  Secretary of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Mrs. Adekunbi Obaisi in her remark before handing over the report to the Deputy Governor thanked Governor Kayode Fayemi for the confidence reposed in them before considering them to serve in the committee and for given the necessary support and  logistics.
Mrs Adekunbi Obaisi who described the exercise as quite challenging and revealing enumerated some of the challenges to include lack of cooperation from some people concerned as some contractors refused to show up, said every member of the committee had contributed immensely and worked assiduously for the success of the exercise.
She noted that if the government can consider and implement the reports and recommendations submitted by the Committee, a lot of irregularities and anomalies in government contract awards and implementations would be addressed and as well serve as deterrent to others who might want to play sharp practices with government contracts.
