The Governments of Nigeria and China have indicated preparedness to transform agricultural practices in the two countries with a view to boosting agricultural production and food security.

Mrs. Bamidele observed that given the relative population of the two countries as continental powers, it behooves the two nations to transform their agricultural practices to conform with global best practices so as to enable them meet the growing challenges of increasing demand for food supplies.
She therefore called on Nigeria and the Peoples Republic of China to strengthen their bilateral relations through the South-South Cooperation Programme under which Nigeria has immensely benefited.
The Permanent Secretary meanwhile commended the Chinese government for the existing support to the National Programme for Food Security in water control and management; fisheries; agro-processing; bamboo production; mushroom production; tissue culture; biogas amongst others.
Mrs. Bamidele added that the ministry has recorded success in cage fish culture, bee-keeping, farming tools fabrication, bamboo processing and crop production.
In his remarks, Mr. Taolin said Nigeria can derive enormous benefits by learning from China's experience in agro-trade, agro-technology, quality and safety management of farm products, protection of agricultural ecology and the environment.
