Unijos launches digital transcript transfer

The University of  Jos on Friday launched   its  digital transcript system which would  ensure that  application, processing and delivery of  transcripts were carried out  on line.
Launching the system on Friday in Jos, the Vice Chancellor of  the university, Prof. Sonni Tyoden,  said application and processing of transcripts for its alumni  had caused pains, agony and embarrassment.
“With the frame work  already put in place by my predecessors, I decided the digitalisation of processing must commence to save the university and its alumni so much embarrassment.
“A lot of our students had missed out on appointments, scholarships and further studies, especially in foreign universities because their transcript could not be processed and delivered in good time,’’ he said.
Tyoden said with the launch of the digital system, all transcripts could be applied for and delivered within five minutes to any part of  the world.
He said though a second generation university, the institution had   set a pace in transcript delivery.
“We decided that the heartaches and pains suffered by both the university and its students must end.
“ This is the idea behind launching the online application and delivery of transcript which will make everyone happy,’’ he said.
Tyoden, whose tenure ends on Sunday, said that the Senate also decided that students would be issued their transcripts at the end of each session.
He appealed to Heads of  Departments and Directors to ensure  the timely submission of results to make the digitalisation a success.
Demonstrating how the system works, the consultant to the project Dr  Ishaya Tanko, said  former students of the university would not  need to come to Jos  to obtain  transcript.
Tanko, who said all requests would be filed on line just like payment, added that  the transcripts would be delivered to the required addresses.
The system, he said, was secured and would cut down on bureaucratic delays.(NAN)
