Royal father hails Oshiomhole for rural transformation

The Okaijesan of Esan land, His Royal Highness Alhaji William Momodu has commended Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for touching the lives of Irrua people through provision of people-oriented projects.
Speaking during his 40th coronation anniversary at Irrua, the Ogirrua and Okaijesan of Esan land, said he is particularly grateful to governor for the renovation of Eguare Primary School Irrua, the Annunciation Catholic College, Irrua as well as the re-construction of the Usugbenu-Ugbegun road.
He disclosed that when he ascended the ancestral throne of Irrua land on the 22nd of June 1971, he had a vision to ensure the promotion and sustenance of peace in Irrua kingdom.
“This is because I recognize peace as a veritable ingredient for achieving social, cultural, economic political and religious growth of any living environment. I must say that since then peace has been achieved in Irrua kingdom. It is also important to mention that Irrua kingdom since my 40 years of reign has witnessed tremendous growth and development which include the establishment of a modern post office, the National Strategic Grains Reserve Silo, the Irrua Specialist Teaching Hospital which is a centre for the control and management of Lassa fever amongst others,” the traditional ruler added.
The Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole who was the special guest of honour at the occasion said the state government will continue to collaborate with traditional rulers in the state because they have a lot to contribute to the development of the state.
According to him “40 years on the throne is not a mean feat and we are happy to associate with you on this occasion and he assured that Edo state government will do everything to bring development to Irrua land.
“We will give practical expression to your dreams and we will continue to collaborate with traditional rulers because we believe you have a lot to contribute to the development of the state. I thank you for the honour you gave me six years ago when you awarded me a title of merit as President of Nigeria Labour Congress and today you are honoring my mother with a chieftaincy title,” he added.
The highlight of the ceremony was the conferment of Chieftaincy titles on some persons including the mother of the governor Hajia Aishetu Oshiomhole with the chieftaincy title of Uwa- Afe of Esanland.
