US Envoy Hails Fayemi’s Administration

The administration of Governor Kayode Fayemi has been lauded for its landmark achievements in the area of good governance.

The United States of  American’s ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Terence McCulley, who made the commendation at a meeting with Governor Fayemi in Abuja, said  Ekiti State remained one of the few states in the country where good governance is taken seriously.
According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Olayinka Oyebode, in Ado-Ekiti, the US Ambassador  said America will be willing to partner with Ekiti State government in its developmental efforts, based on the administration’s enviable record in the area of  good governance.
According to Ambassador McCulley, “Governance is taken seriously in Ekiti. We can point at your state as one where governance is taken seriously and we can partner with you.”  He added that Ekiti State could be the laboratory for change in the country. Ambassador McCulley said health and educational institutions in them state could benefit from technical support and exchange programmes with their counterparts in the US, in a bid to assist the state in the area of technical support and capacity building.
Hailing the innovation which Dr Fayemi had brought to governance, the American Ambassador said some health institutions in the state including the University Teaching Hospital, and the Federal Medical Centre, Ido, enjoy support from the American government in the area of HIV/AIDS control.
Governor Fayemi, said the outcome of the April general election has helped to consolidate the administration. He said the administration is fully committed to the industrial and agricultural developments of the state.
 The governor said, “Turning our subsistence agriculture to commercial agriculture is of top priority as it will help IGR. 
The governor added that tourism is another area the government would focus on, in view of the abundant tourism potentials in the state.
