Mimiko Splashes N18 billion on Political Defectors

This is indeed, a season of bumper harvest for members of opposition parties in Ondo state as the Ondo state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has allocated 18.5 billion naira for all defectors from opposing camps.
A source at the governor’s office in Alagbaka, Akure told PLATFORM NEWSWIRE that the governor, through the ministry of finance, has spent over 10 billion since last year to lure his political opponents, especially, those from the Action Congress of Nigeria as well as those, who hail from Ondo North Senatorial District, where he (Mimiko) is facing stiff opposition on his reelection bid.
The source said the governor started with some of his prominent critics in Peoples Democratic Party, an Ondo based politician who was for many decades a critic of the governor. Mimiko allegedly gave the PDP stalwart $50, 000 and also placed him on monthly salary for him to drop his incessant criticism of his administration.
The source also said Governor Mimiko has allocated 10 billion naira for political defectors from Akoko and other areas of Ondo North Senatorial District. Each defecting opposition leader from the zone has been receiving 10 million naira as well as a promise of juicy appointment if the governor wins his second term.
PLATFORM NEWSWIRE also learned that any defector from ACN  with up to 100 supporters get 50 million naira while those with about 1000 supporters receive 100 million to defect to Labour Party.
Defectors fro PDP, who hail from Ondo Southern senatorial district also get the same treatment. The financial benefits increase if that person happens to be a former aide or commissioner in the Olusegun agagu government.
Other people who are likely to hit financial jackpots from Mimiko are political associates of Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim and other top PDP stalwarts in the district. They get 200 million naira if they are able to defect to Labour Party with 1000 members and above while those with lesser members get 100 million naira.
Solo defectors from any senatorial districts, according to the source get 10 million naira each with award of contracts at their local government area.
