Youths on Rampage in Okitipupa,as Police shoot two brothers dead

Youths in Okitipupa, Okitipupa local Government area of Ondo state trooped out yesterday to avenge the death of two brothers who were reportedly shot dead by men of Nigerian police in the area.
According to an eye witness, trouble started when an Okada rider identified as Osare refused to part away with N20 to a policeman on patrol and was subsequently shot dead by the police officer over the argument.
The incident which occurred around 9:15pm at Kajola street in Okitipupa attracted some youths of the area after the police officer had carried out his act. The youths mobilized themselves to arrest the officer who according to source shot sporadically into the air.
According to the source, the police officers who appeared to be drunk left the town while the youths from the town gathered the second day for reprisal attack.
The younger brother of the late Osare identified as Robinson headed to the police station in the town to demand for the killer of his brother where hot argument ensued between him and other officers on duty.
The officers sensing troubles started shooting into the air to disperse the irate youths while Robinson was hit in the process and dropped dead while three others were seriously injured during the attack.
Irked by this action, the youths invaded the police station with dangerous weapons sacking all the officers in the station as they all run for their lives while the youths attempted to set the station ablaze but for the timely intervention of the Divisional Police Officer in the area and the Jegun of Idepe-Okitipupa Oba Michael Obatuga who assured them that justice will be done to the matter.
Other police officers on duty pulled off their uniforms and ran into the bush while some who reside in the police barrack relocated their families to neighboring towns for the fear of reprisal attack by the youth.
The Police Public Relation Officer in the state Mr Aremu Adeniran (DSP) said they were on top of the situation saying “The situation is under control.
I will give you details of the incident as soon as my office is properly briefed.” As at the time of filing this report, the atmosphere in the town was tensed as youths were seen in groups to revenge of the two brothers who hailed from Edo state and have been living in the town for over twenty years but the police were said
