Sultan urges states, FG to fund judiciary

Alhaji  Sa'ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto, has called on the states and Federal Government to adequately fund the judiciary, to quick dispensation of justice in the country. Abubakar made the call during a courtesy visit by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Ibrahim Auta, in Sokoto.

He said that adequate funding of the judiciary was critical in ensuring quick dispensation of cases  before the judges.

The Sultan said it would enable judges to discharge their constitutional responsibilities without hindrance.

Abubakar also called on the judges to always have the fear of God above all while handling cases before  them.

" We will one day account for all that we do on earth before our creator."

"You are the last hope of the common man hence the need for you to remain steadfast and resolute.''

He also commended the effort of the judiciary in promoting democracy in the country.

Earlier, Auta commended the Sultan for enhancing peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.

He said that the exemplary leadership of Sultan Abubakar made it possible for Nigerians to interact with one another, irrespective of tribe and religious differences.

He explained that the 56 judges  of the Federal High Court were in Sokoto for their  27th annual conference.(NAN)
